Russel James Armour
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Russell James Armour announce his passing on July 16, 2025, at the age of 62.
Russ is survived by his wife, Carol, and his stepchildren: Adam and Elyse, Kyle and Sara, and Kelsey and Keegan.
Though Russ had no biological children of his own, he embraced the role of father with patience, wisdom, compassion and empathy. After the passing of their father, Russ became a cherished father figure to his stepchildren, forging strong and lasting relationships that only grew deeper with time. Throughout his illness, they stood by us both, helping in every way, lifting us up, and reminding us what it means to be a family.
Russ had a special bond with his grandchildren: Dexton, Cora, Iris, Margo and Theo. To them, he was never a "step-grandfather"; he was simply Grandpa. Whether it was dropping everything for an impromptu tea party, wrestling on the living room floor, or later, cuddling on the couch for a quiet movie, his love for them was unwavering and pure.
Born the youngest of seven siblings, Russ is lovingly remembered by Christine, Connie, Gary, Norine, Danny, and Patricia. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Kathleen Armour.
Russ found great joy in his work and his extended JPW family. He loved what he did, but even more so, he loved the people he worked alongside.
Russ had a personality that was hard not to be drawn to, always patient, respectful, and kind to everyone in his life. His smile, laughter and strength throughout it all was something everyone admired.
To Gary, Patty, and my sister Marie, you were my pillars from the very beginning of this difficult journey to its end. I will never be able to fully express the depth of my gratitude. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
Our family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jenna and Bonnie on the 5th floor of St. Thomas Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion, not only for Russ, but for all of us who loved him.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Norwich Legion, after which Russ will make his final journey home to Huntsville.
