Margaret Lewis

1937-2026

Margaret Lewis passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2026.  She is predeceased by her husband, Emyr, and survived by her sons Neil (Deb), Tim (Michelle), Nigel, her grandchildren Mike (Jen), Alex (Olivia), Riley, Kyla, Emma, her great-grandchildren Tyler, Lily, and Violet, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families in Wales and England.

Margaret was born on June 23rd, 1937 into a dairy & sheep farming family on the border of Wales and England.  She met and married Emyr in 1964, and together they raised three sons. They remained on the home farm milking cows until 1978 when they moved to Smeaton Wood Farm, Cheshire, England and continued to build a milking herd to be proud of.  In 1983, Emyr and Margaret immigrated to Canada where they continued to farm with their 3 sons on Smeaton Farms in Dorchester, Ontario.  Here they met many friends and became a well-known dairy family in the local community.

Margaret was a gentle and kind-hearted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She had a love for animals, especially horses. She spent many mornings in the barn while farming, feeding, and caring for the calves. Margaret loved the family dogs and her time with them. Her love and understanding of dogs led her to do the initial training for a therapy dog. Margaret enjoyed her time at home with Emyr, and in their early retirement, they were known to go for leisurely drives, enjoying the country scenery.

The family would like to thank everyone at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, especially the staff on Marian Villa 3, for the kindness and care of Margaret which has been greatly appreciated. She was well loved and known for her gentle and kind manner with residents and staff.

Cremation has taken place, at Margaret’s request.  There will be no formal service.

Messages and condolences for the family may be left in the comments box below.
