Dayna Coy Newman
It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Dayna Coy Newman, age 40, in London, Ontario. She passed away at home on Monday November 24, 2025, shortly after spending Saturday evening attending a wonderful light show festival with family and friends.
Dayna is survived by her parents, Doug and Miriam Newman and Terry Smith and Debra Newman Smith, brother Andrew Smith, precious son Dylan and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Although Dayna was never married, she maintained a lasting friendship with Dylan’s father Denny and the Euceda family.
Dayna was born on the 1st day of Summer, June 21, 1985, in Sault Ste. Marie. Her arrival happily interrupted her father’s play in an evening baseball game.
Dayna learned to appreciate the outdoors at an early age and spent many days at Bellevue animal park in the Sault, often climbing up and hiding on the full size train engine when it was time to go.
While at the park she curiously studied all the animals and wanted to know why the buffalo always had mud on his face.
At the age of 4, Dayna moved to St. Catharines, where she continued her love of the outdoors. Many trips to playgrounds, HAPPY ROLPH’S, walks in the woods, trips to the cottage in Restoule and visits to grandparents in Huntsville. She enjoyed participating in gymnastics class, baseball and basketball leagues.
After high school at SWC she finally relocated to London, Ontario after completing her education at Fanshawe College.
Dayna worked happily for over 10 years at Good Cheer Delivery Services and developed friendships with many staff, including Frank, Ron and Andrew. Her final and most cherished job was Mother to Dylan. Every day was devoted to his well-being and happiness. Daily trips to parks, librairies, special events in the area, outings with other Mothers and children. Dayna truly enjoyed holiday events and always involved Dylan in all the fun and preparations.
She had a unique sense of humour and exhibited a kind and caring personality. She has been a special gift to us all and will remain in our hearts forever. We are truly thankful for the time we had together and will miss her and love her forever.
A remembrance gathering is scheduled for 1pm on Tuesday December 2, 2025, at Pleasantview Funeral Home, 2250 Highway # 20, Fonthill, Ontario.
