It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing with family by her side, of our beloved Dorothy Winnifred Thompson (nee Field) on August 17, 2020 at The Village of Glendale Crossing, London, Ontario. Predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Denton John Frederick (2011), and her siblings, Edward, Harry and Marjorie. Caring and devoted mother to Gary Thompson (Deb), Marjorie Haley (Rick), Mark Thompson (Rita). Proud Nana to Ryan Thompson (Luciana), Kyle Thompson (Tiffany), Tarilyn McGrath (Russell), Lyona Lunter (Brendan), Kathy Ormond (Mitch), Lisa Slipetz (Ryan) and Mitchell Haley. Great Nana to Brady and Vaera Lunter, Denton Haley and Olivia Ormond.

Dorothy was born in Grenville, Quebec in 1922. She was an avid tennis player and swimmer (beginning in her early teens in Lac Grenville, Kilmar, Quebec) and was on the swim team at her all girls high school in Montreal.  She continued her love of swimming and taught her children and grandchildren to swim, with a warm towel to embrace them afterwards.  She was the ultimate homemaker and made the best chocolate chip cookies, homemade strawberry jam and shepherds pie. Family will cherish the many happy get togethers around her dinner table. She lived a full life of fun and adventure with travels to Jamaica, Hawaii and throughout North America. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always welcomed them with open arms and hugs and kisses.  She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew her.

Many thanks to the medical team at the ACE unit at Victoria Hospital, London, and especially to the caring staff and Palliative Care Team at The Village of Glendale Crossing, for their exemplary compassion and loving care.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at St. James Westminster Anglican Church at a future date, for a celebration of Dorothy’s life.

In her memory, messages and condolences may be left at www.forestcitycremation.com or on Facebook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Westminster Anglican Church, 115 Askin St. London, ON N6C 1E7. (Phone 519-432-1915 or office@stjameswest.ca).

With extreme sadness, the family of Isabel Frizzell had to say goodbye to their beloved Mom, Grandmother & G.G.

Issy was born April 5, 1929 in Toronto and died peacefully in London on July 16, 2020 at the age of 91.  She is predeceased by her devoted husband Sam (1986), daughter Nancy (2012), daughter Cathy (2018), grandson Kevin (2013), granddaughter Lorraine (2018). Survived by Ann (John), Lynne, Sue, Patty (Perry), John, Dave (Tracey). She will be missed by her 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, her loving sister Ann Walton (Herb 2016) and our wonderful Walton family.

Family was everything to Isabel. We had many family get-togethers and Mom delighted in hearing news or just giving hugs to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so very proud of her eight children. There will be a huge void in our family circle but the precious memories and traditions  she left us will live on forever.

Cremation has taken place and we will have a private family gathering to celebrate Mom’s remarkable life at a later date. We want to thank the fantastic Palliative Care Staff at Victoria Hospital for their great care and compassion for Mom in her final days. Please visit  Isabel's obituary notice on Facebook.

On Monday, June 22, 2020 in London, at the age of 73, surrounded by love, Faith made the brave decision with her family’s support, to shed her burdens of disease and pain in her courageous battle with cancer.

Faith’s beauty was obvious, both inside and out.  She was a loving wife and mother and the backbone to our family.  She was also  a wonderful care giver to others, and was often called upon by friends and extended family for advice (and diagnosis).  During her career, she was a dedicated, extraordinarily competent and caring Registered Nurse and Nurse Manager.  Faith loved her work in the Emergency Department, where the action was, and then moved on to excel in every new challenge and position.

Faith was a very loyal and trusted friend.  She made and kept good friends despite physical distance and she was always the most gracious and inclusive hostess who had every event organized down to the last detail.   She welcomed neighbours and co-workers into her life and she was always ready to brag about her children and grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure.

She loved the Arts and was an artist herself, as a potter in her early years and then later on in life as an avid card maker and singer in both the Sweet Adeline’s and in St Paul’s Anglican Church choir in Thunder Bay.  (St. Paul’s Anglican was her “church home”.  She was both confirmed and married there, her children were baptised there and both of her parents’ funeral services were held at St. Paul’s.)  She was also well-known for her abilities in the kitchen.  She was an incredible cook who could prepare a table for 16 or for 4 - and everyone went home amazed with the food and presentation!

Faith was a tireless worker and consummate planner, always making sure things were completed well ahead of schedule.  She was never one to sit still for long, whether it be cleaning, cooking, working or playing.  As a testament to this, she also obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, all while working full-time and running our busy household.

In her spare time, Faith was an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles, social golfing, and playing bridge. She was a member in both Thunder Bay and London Bridge clubs.  After moving to London, Faith also became a member of a London branch of Beta Sigma Phi International.  Faith really enjoyed her friends in these organizations.  She was a true social creature, who made new friends easily whilst never forgetting her old ones.

Faith treasured her Icelandic Heritage and maintained her maiden name, Bjerring, in her emails. She kept up the Icelandic Christmas tradition of baking Vinarterta every year – even this past season while she was in her weakened state.  Before she left us, she taught both of her daughters how to make this special treat so they could carry this Icelandic tradition forward.

Faith was born in Winnipeg on September 24, 1946 to her parents John and Marjorie Bjerring. She is survived by her beloved husband Keith (53 yrs) and two daughters; Stacey (Rick) and Tanis.  Grieving the loss of their wonderful Grandmother are Parker and Tabitha (Louisville KY) and Brenden in London. She will also be dearly missed by her brother, Bryan (Judy) and her nieces, Lisa and Susan and nephew, Craig.

Due to the current travel restrictions and Covid-19 concerns, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

If you would like to donate, Faith’s wishes were for the Canadian Cancer Society. Messages and condolences may be left at www.forestcitycremation.com. Please visit Faith's obituary notice on Facebook.

Olive was born on March 1, 1934 in Foleyet Ontario and passed away at McCormick Home in London, Ontario on June 20, 2020, at the age of 86.

She was predeceased by the love of her life Ivan in 1988, both passing on the first day of summer.  She also has a surviving sister Theri Anderson from Sudbury, Ontario.

Our beautiful Mother was the most courageous and loving Mother.  We meant the world to her.  Maurice (Laura) from Sudbury, Ontario, Elaine (Frank) from North Bay, Ontario, and Francine (Robert) from London, Ontario will miss her terribly.  Her grandchildren Annyse (Travis) and Michelle (Gilbert) along with her 8 great grandchildren to whom she was known as “Mime” will also have her in their hearts forever.

She was so special in many ways. Mom was an amazing cook, she made the best pies ever...except raisin pie, she disliked raisins!  Mom made crafts of all kinds, and her cold room was always full of preserves.  Her pickled beets and dill recipes are still shared between family and friends.

She worked in Customer Service at Canadian Tire in Sudbury for many years and was loved by staff and customers, always having a story and a laugh to share.

Ivan and Mom would spend hours playing cribbage, working in their garden and fishing.

We would like to think Mom and Ivan are fishing now on Ivanhoe Lake, which was no doubt their most special place on earth.

There will be a private celebration of life with family at Ivanhoe Lake in July followed by interment at Sudbury’s Civic Memorial Cemetery.

A very special thank you to the staff at McCormick Home’s Memory Lane who have loved and given such good care to our Mother in the last few years of her life.

Cindy passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 31st. Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Anita Lankin, and she leaves behind her sister, Georgia, and brother, Michael, as well as brother-in-law, Tom, and sister-in-law, Reina, along with nephews (Sean and Cullen) and nieces (Cadence and Coda).

Cindy was a loving, outgoing, inquisitive, wore her heart on her sleeve, loved to laugh and had a big personality with an infectious smile that would brighten any room. She loved getting out to visit other residents, go to concerts, shop, dress up and volunteer in her community.

She will be very sorely missed by her family as well as her Brantwood family at Paris Road (both residents as well as the many staff that have had the chance to support, laugh with and develop a deep relationship with Cindy over the years).

The family cannot express enough heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brantwood who had taken such exceptional care and sincere interest in Cindy’s well-being over the many years. Their efforts ensured that Cindy realized the meaningful life she led.

Cindy will be cremated with a private burial to take place at a later date.

Its with heartfelt sadness to announce the passing of Diane Lorraine McAfee (Badgley) on Thursday May 14th, at the age of 77 years. Her loving husband Douglas "Doug" McAfee who did not want to be apart from her, passed away on Wednesday May 20th at the age of 85. Both passed away in London, Ontario. Doug and Diane were married for 52 years.

Dearly loved mother of Kim (Keith McCoy) and son Jack. Proud grandparents to their three granddaughters Kylie, Kara (Jamie Young) and Kailyn.

Diane was predeceased by her parents Jack and Maude. Dear twin sister to Jackie Bloodworth (late Thomas) and younger sister Judy (Roger Bunt). Doug was predeceased by his parents George and Evelyn. Loved by his sisters and brothers George, Margaret, Bob (Terri Nicholson), Mary, June (Bryan Tranter) and Jean (Roy Hurdidge). Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Diane's no nonsense, tell it like it is, humorous personality, made her one of a kind. Doug was easy going, gentle and quiet, which made them quite a match. They both had a love for sports in which Diane played baseball when she was a teen. It was not uncommon for them to be watching the Toronto Blue Jays together. Doug was always there cheering on his favourite hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs no matter what the outcome, while having a few "cold ones".

Doug and Diane enjoyed many years travelling "way up north" as they would say to Sauble Beach, Wiarton and Clinton just enjoying the simple things in life together. Doug loved to fish and any chance to just sit back and relax.

We will miss all the cards and letters Diane wrote and sent by mail, even though many of us could not read her handwriting (she would be the first to tell you that). We will also miss all of Doug's stories of his life experiences he told and when he told them, it was like he was reliving the memory all over again.

Messages and condolences can be left at www.forestcitycremation.com or through the Facebook page.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday May 14, 2020, at the age of 35.

Beloved daughter of Stephanie Anne Quenneville (Step-father Charles) and James Joseph Desnoyers. Cherished mother of Mason Larocque. Dear sister of Desiree Desnoyers, loving Aunt to Rex and Lisa. Loving partner of James Ritchie. Also survived by Mason’s father Adam Larocque. Granddaughter of Margaret Greenwood (G.G.) and Rolland & Bernice Desnoyers.

Predeceased by her grandparents Alfred and Lotte Vincent., Larry Greenwood. Very much loved and will be deeply missed by many of her Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other close relatives. Will be greatly missed by her close friends and many acquaintances.

“I was given this Life because I am strong enough to Live it.”

Lisa was born at St. Joseph Hospital in London, On. She lived her childhood in Chatham, On. She belonged to the family of St. Joseph School for 10 years and continued on to St. Ursuline College, “The Pines”, until she graduated from grade 12.  As a young adult she decided to move to London, Ontario where she stayed. She took the Fine Arts Program at Fanshawe College. This allowed her to create beautiful works of art on different media. She worked a few different jobs along the way and her last job was at Norma Jean’s for 10 years eventually becoming a Manager.

She continued to upgrade her studies several times but her illness would set her back. More treatments and determination she pushed through and was not wavered to let the illness run her life.

Her love of travel started very young as she was sponsored to visit    Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. Later, she travelled to Cuba, Florida and Mexico which she felt she would love to live one day.

Always athletic she found a way to keep fit, whether roller blading, kick boxing, yoga and meditation or just walking her beloved dog, Harley. Lisa enjoyed baseball and belonged to several Slow Pitch Teams.

Her true gift was the birth of her son, Mason.  She loved and adored him. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was always ready for gatherings with her friends.

One of her favorite things to say to people was, “Make lots of Memories - Live in the Moment.”    We have no doubt that she chose to live that way.

We would like to extend our warm thanks to the team of Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, at London Health Science Center, In-home Palliative Care team, St Joseph Hospice, Southwest LHIN and many more people who were directly involved with Lisa’s care. Your dedication and support were extremely appreciated and will always be remembered.

Also, to the family and friends who supported her with kindness, love and support to keep her spirits up. It made a huge difference in her daily journey.

Due to the Covid -19 pandemic,  Lisa's Celebration of Life will be held after restrictions have been lifted and announces at a later date.

In Lisa’s memory donations may be made to London Humane Society. Messages and condolences may be left at www.forestcitycremation.com. Please Lisa's obituary notice on Facebook.
