Sezer Canoglu
Sezer died peacefully with his family by his side at St. Joseph’s Hospice on January 5th, 2026, at the age of 84.
Dearest husband of 56 years to Aino, much loved father of Mert (Natalie) and Selda. Loving Grandpa to Lily and Max and dear Dede to Rosa. Missed by sister Müyesser and family in Turkey, and predeceased by brother Mehmet. Sadly missed by nephews in Ontario, Halil, Korhan, and Gorkem, and friends in Canada and Turkey.
Sezer grew up in Nazilli, a small town in western Turkey. While studying Geology at Istanbul University, Sezer met Aino who was travelling from Sweden as a tourist. In a great leap of faith, he later moved to Sweden in 1969 where he learned to speak Swedish and started to build a life with his new wife. In 1972 they immigrated to Canada, where Sezer was very committed to building a life in London and providing for his growing family. Always a good planner, these skills served him well in his long career as a supervisor at 3M.
Sezer enjoyed many years of retirement with extensive travel with Aino early on. In more recent years, in addition to family visits, his weekly regular gym routine, social connections with former 3M work mates, and video connections with his grade school friends in Turkey, have been an important and nourishing part of his life.
Sezer’s family would like to thank the caring Doctors and Staff at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, in particular Dr N. Chandna, for his compassionate and impactful care. Thank you also to St. Joseph’s Hospice for their competent care and support.
At Sezer’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Forest City Cremation Services.
