Ludwig Karl Schmidt (Lou)

Peacefully on July 15, 2023 in his 89th year.

Beloved husband of the late Arlene (Long) with whom he is now reunited. Formerly of Stratford, Lou was predeceased by his parents Johann and Klara Schmidt (Schwartz). Lou will be dearly missed by his children Karen (Tom Pellar), John (Patti) and Paul (Tracey), grandchildren Lauren, Lewis, Allison, Russell, Rebecca, Dane, Jarod, Madeline and their partners, and his 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Elisabeth Hartmann of California.

Lou loved his dog companions, his flower gardens, a good polka, a glass of Schnapps and above all else his family. We won’t forget his many “Lou-isms”.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Middlesex Terrace for their compassionate and faithful care over the last seven years. He will be dearly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
