Kathryn Grace Adams (née Buchan), 95, passed away peacefully in London, Ontario on September 4, 2026.
Kathryn, the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Buchan, was born on August 19, 1931, and raised in Toronto. In 1951, Kathryn married Stanley Adams and they moved to London, Ontario to begin their new lives together.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children: Lois Wellington (Rick), Steve Adams (Mary), and Mary Adams (Mark Reutter); her grandchildren: Cara VanderKant (Ron), Rob Wellington (Kelsey), Bill Wellington (Jolene), Luke Adams (Jess Gyll), and Jordan Adams (Fabiola Chacon); and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 2014, and her sisters Ruth Cagara (2007) and Carol Agnew (2024).
Kathryn was a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family. She believed in helping shape her children’s lives by modelling perseverance, kindness, and generosity towards others. For her, this naturally extended out into the larger community.
Kathryn lived her life to serve others. After many years at Egerton Street Gospel Chapel in London, the family started attending Northpark Community Church. There, she worked tirelessly in many facets of church life—volunteering at the welcome desk, helping with food outreach, inviting new members to lunches at her home to meet others, sending letters of encouragement, and regularly supporting her church community.
She is perhaps best remembered for her extraordinary hospitality and her famous shortbread cookies. On Sundays, she would open her home and generously extend her dining room table to invite as many as twenty young students for a home-cooked meal.
Kathryn's deep dedication to community building and outreach spanned many happy years. Her immense generosity and caring spirit leave behind a lasting, positive impact on the countless lives she touched. She will be missed by so many.
In the final years of her life, Kathryn struggled with dementia and deeply appreciated the support from her caring and kind Personal Support Worker, Brenda Cuming. “Dr. Dan” (Daniel Leger) provided Kathryn with compassionate comfort delivered with warm smiles. The family also extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Kensington Village.
Celebration of Life:
A Celebration of Kathryn’s life will take place at Northpark Community Church on October 23, 2026 at 2 PM.
