John “Ian” Macpherson

Passed away peacefully at University Hospital on Sunday December 11, 2022, at the age of 90.

Born in Scotland, he emigrated to Canada followed by his fiancé Mary where they married and built a fulfilling life together. John was stationed for two years in Singapore at 18 with the British Armed Forces, where he developed a life long love of travel. He was an athlete enjoying soccer, tennis, hiking.

John was a successful businessman and company president for 25 years and later was an entrepreneur working with Mary in a business they created. Upon retirement he became a self described “leisurologist” and savvy investor excelling in both of those roles.

Beloved husband of 69 years to Mary (Rae) Macpherson, his high school sweetheart. Loving father of Sheila Holloway (Thomas) and J. Scott Macpherson (Patti). Cherished grandfather of Grace Holloway and Graham Holloway (Andrea Renshaw).

Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society for prostate cancer  or Diabetes Canada .
