Imre Harcsa

1937 - 2026

Imre Harcsa, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at University Hospital in London Ontario.

Imre was born on September 15, 1937, in Komarom, Hungary (formerly Czechoslovakia). In 1957, he immigrated to Canada, beginning a new chapter marked by hard work, resilience, and independence. He first worked mining in Alberta before settling in London, Ontario, where he built a life and career, he was proud of.  Imre worked in a tool and die factory and later completed his working years at Timberjack in Woodstock, Ontario.

Imre was known for his love of humor and connection. He enjoyed telling jokes, watching funny sitcoms, and keeping his mind sharp with puzzles. He loved going to the horse races and placing a bet and valued socializing with friends and acquaintances, especially during his regular visits to Cherryhill Mall near his home. He also had a strong interest in nutrition and took pride in caring for himself.

Imre was loyal, proud, stubborn in is own way, fiercely independent, and deeply responsible. Above all he was someone who enjoyed people and everyday conversation and who will be remembered for his warmth and humor.

Imre was survived by his daughter Andrea, her husband Iwo, and his beloved grandchild Boris. He is also survived by his former wife Edit, who remained present and supportive in his later years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ilona and Geza, his stepfather Istvan and his younger brother and sister Les and Julianna, along with their families.

Imre's life reflects the journey of an immigrant who worked hard, stayed true to himself, and found joy in simple pleasures and human connection. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
