Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Wayne, her children Gregory and Deborah (Sean), her loving brothers David (Lynn) and Donald (Carmen), and her two precious grandsons, Nathaniel and Ethan. Marilyn is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Perry and Doris Hoath. Marilyn was born on July 1st, 1946 in Owen Sound, Ontario. She was always very proud of sharing her birthday with Canada.
Marilyn spent her life helping others, as exemplified in her career as a Registered Nurse. After working at the Toronto East General Hospital, Marilyn moved to the Guelph General Hospital where she stayed for many years before moving to London and finishing out her nursing career as a Nursing Manager for the London Regional Cancer Centre. Upon retirement, Marilyn’s love of helping others did not stop. In her last year on earth, Marilyn knitted countless hats, scarves, and mittens for those less fortunate, as well as sewed scrub hats for the medical community.
Marilyn was a steadfast member of the Colborne Street United Church since her move to London in 1989 and her presence there will be dearly missed. Marilyn involved herself as a choir soprano, a dutiful book table organizer at the semi-annual rummage sales, a knitter in the prayer shawl group, and a friend to all at the Wednesday’s Take-A-Break group, just to name a few.
Marilyn will live on in the beautiful artwork that she created both through her paintings and drawings, the many items she sewed for her children and grandchildren, her knitted goods, her beautiful crafts, and her gardens that she so lovingly developed. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, a celebration of life is being considered for the spring of 2021 when the world might be a safer place to gather. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of their choice.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Forest City Cremation Services and online condolences can be made at https://www.forestcitycremation.com/obituaries/marilyn-june-semple-nee-hoath
