After a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret ‘Florence’ Elliott on Wednesday December 14 at the age of 71.  Beloved wife of Garry for 51 years.  Loving mother of Tammy and Tim (Jenn).  Cherished and adoring grandmother of Chloe and Cassie.  Lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Phyllis Edwards, Mary (Rob) Huyzen, Edna Elliott and Judy Cotton.

Predeceased by her parents Willard and Elaine Cotton, Sister Sharon (Jim) Lucken, brother Junior Cotton, parents-in-law Roy and Norene Elliott, brothers-in-law Terry Elliott and Howard Edwards.  Remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Summerside PEI, Florence and her family were stationed in various air force bases in Canada from PEI to Whitehorse to her final destination in Vanastra where she met her sweetheart and future husband Garry at the age of 14.  They were married on Nov 12, 1971, and began to raise their family at 176 Erie St Clinton, remaining there throughout their lives.

Florence met many good friends throughout the years of working as treasurers and site auditor at London Life, Clinton Town Hall, Clinton Public Hospital and OLG Slots.  Volunteering for Girl Guides, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Clinton United Church, and Clinton Spring Fair Board.  Everybody was always welcomed to the Elliott home no matter what day or time with her famous saying “would you like something to eat?”  She always made people feel welcome and part of the family.

Over the years they loved to travel to many destinations such as Florida, Alaska and all over Canada and US.

Being a grandma was the most fulfilling and important role of all.  Going to sporting events, cooking, baking, playing games were things that brought her utmost joy.  “The girls” were the highlight of her life.

Thank you to so many people throughout this long battle, but a special thank you to Dr. Loretta Seevaratnum, the HPHA nurses and staff, Huron Hospice Bender House as well her “angel” Shelley Hayter.  To our long-time friends and family, the Hallam and Finch families, we couldn’t have gotten through this without your continuous support.

Cremation has taken place and Flo’s life will be celebrated at the Clinton United Church on Wednesday December 21 from 3pm – 6pm.  This will be an opportunity for people to stop in and reminisce.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made to Huron Hospice Bender House, or a charity of your choice.

My Condolences to the family at this difficult time.
I worked with Florence at CPH, years ago. I always would have a laugh or two with her. She had a great smile and looked to make you laugh with her quick wit.
A new star in the heavens!
God Bless

Gary and Family; I had a heavy heart, reading about Florence's struggle with cancer and her ultimate passing. She and I shared many laughs, serious discussions, and became very good friends during the time she spent working at the Clinton municipality. As usual, in that environment there was lots of debating the best way to serve the public. We both agreed that smiles were the order of the day! My heart aches unbearably, as I say good bye to another one of " my girls " from the Town Hall. Don and I both send sincere condolences to your entire family as you deal with this loss. Hugs, Marie
