Madaline (Lyn) Esther Alexander (nee McBeigh), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, died on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at 84 years old in London, Ontario after a brief battle with cancer.

Lyn is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Sandra), and Chris (Nicole); her step-children Phillip (Lynne), Michael, Greg, Patricia (John); her grandchildren, Nicole (Devin), Fiona, Stephanie (Nikki), Madaline, Matthew, and Mackenzie; her great-granddaughter Rosina; her siblings Charles (Lise) McBeigh, and Susan (John) Belardi; and numerous other loving family members. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her brother Bill (Effie) McBeigh, and her parents William McBeigh of Belfast, Northern Ireland and Madaline Esther McBeigh (nee Brown) of Toronto.

Lyn was born on February 7, 1937 in the east end of Toronto but later settled in Oshawa and raised her children with the love of her life, Lawrence Alexander (1916- 2016). She was a lifelong supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Leafs, enjoyed vacationing in Florida with her grandchildren and her niece and nephew Jenna and Josh, and travelling the continent with her husband Lawrence. Lyn loved nothing more than spending time with her family, who will all miss her dearly.

Details on a memorial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name.

In theory, Lyn was a relatively distant relative (great aunt). But she felt so much closer through her caring words, posts and fantastic smile. I will miss all of that. My condolences to the many in our family who are grieving.

A little correction: Lyn was my mother’s cousin, not my great aunt. The point is the same: no matter how distant, Lyn made everyone feel like family.

Lyn will be missed by the many hearts she touched. I will miss her warmth, humour and love for family and pets. I will cherish memories of always being welcomed in her and dad’s home where great hospitality and kindness was always shown. RIP Lyn and say hi to dad for us!

We met Lyn four years ago when she moved to London, to be close to her son Chris. During those years, Lyn shared many happy, fun, family times with the Hewitt Clan.
She became part of our family, we will miss Lyn's kind and gentle ways.
With Blessings and Loving Thoughts of Lyn..xo

Chris and Lawrence: your mom meant the world to me as a teenager. She was loving and kind. I continue to make her garlic/onion powder chicken and laugh with great fondness when I think of her cabbage (Lawrence, I think your exact words were: “where did the colour go?”). I wish the family only the fondest of memories and may she be reunited with the love of her life.
