Born December 10, 1983.

It is with great heartbreak that we announce the passing of our daughter Krystal on August 28, 2021, at the age of 37 years old.  Krystal was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Krystal is the daughter of Brad and Judy Thorner, sister of Curtis, and mother of Maddison, Taylor and Zoey.  Krystal will be very sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved her including her parents, brother, daughters, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her grandma.

Krystal had a strong passion and talent for art. Throughout her childhood, Krystal enjoyed playing sports and was competitive at baseball and hockey. At an early age, we discovered figure skating was not meant for Krystal.  Krystal always took the spotlight while swimming.  Krystal brought loads of energy to every family gathering and social function.  Her laugh was contagious.

Krystal lost her battle with drug addiction which took so much from her life and the life of those who loved her.  Please do your part in the battle to fight drug addiction so that other families do not have to endure this horrific loss.

Thank you to the first responders who came to her aid, the Emergency and ICU teams at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, the Sarnia and Chatham-Kent Police Services, and to our dear family and friends, we thank all of you for your caring, knowledgeable assistance and loving support.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held to celebrate Krystal’s life. Sympathy can be expressed by donating to the Inn of the Good Shephard in Sarnia, Ontario - https://www.theinnsarnia.ca/donate/.

Our deepest condolences to you, Judy, Brad, Curtis, Maddison, Taylor and Zoey. I remember Crystal’s smile and her happy disposition at Holy Rosary School and it never changed through the years. I’d bump into her at grocery store and she would always say hello and ask how we were doing. Gone far to young, May she rest peacefully.

My heart goes out to all of Krystals loved ones. This has been such a painful loss for everyone who knew Krystal. We shared a birthday, grew up together, and through the years we supported one another. I have been in recovery for six years now. Krystal was the first person to try and help me get clean. We leaned on one another. Our connection never dwindled regardless of the time that passed between seeing one another. Krystal and I would laugh so hard we'd cry. Prior to addiction, Krystal and I have many memories at Greenview aviaries with the kids in summer. As a recovering addict, I'm very aware of the battle she faced everyday. the internal war she fought between her mind, heart, and physical body. The struggle of pulling herself out of addiction and the barriers she faced felt endless for her. I feel blessed to have known Krystal, to have grown up together and shared memories as mom's. Addiction takes so much from people that it's so hard to find a way out. I pray for her beautiful girls. I know she loved them dearly. I know she struggled without them. I pray for her family, she loved them very much. At some point as an addict it becomes easier to withdraw and make oneself invisible to those you had prior to addiction. The embarrassment, the losses, the loneliness is a difficult thing to face. Often it becomes easier to create a family within the brokenness of ourselves. That never means that you forget or let go of those you love. It just means that the fear of having loved ones see what addiction is doing is too heavy to bare. Addiction is a family disease because the struggles Krystal faced in addiction affected every person in her family. I will never forget her. I will celebrate her every year on our birthday. I know she is at peace, no longer suffering. That doesn't make this any easier 💔
