Karli Frances Marks, 34, passed peacefully with her loved ones by her side. Karli was born February 3, 1986 in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent her childhood in Dartmouth NS where she developed a great love for the ocean and all things mermaid, before moving to London as a young teen.

Karli was a fighter to the end, a courageous and beautiful soul. She was kind and compassionate and cared deeply about others. She was a light that shone brightly, and our world will not be the same without her in it. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece, auntie, cousin, and soul mate – and will forever be in our hearts.

Karli is survived by her beloved son Jordan Marks-Duncan, her parents William (Billy) Marks and Janet (Murray) Marks. In addition to her heartbroken family, she leaves a wide circle of dear friends that she cherished deeply, and her precious dog Gigi.

Now at rest, Karli is reunited with her dearly loved brother Jay (Jason Marks 4/14/15), her grandparents Rita and Jack Murray (St Thomas, ON), Fran and Willy Marks (Saint John, NB); her aunts Patsy Marks and Maureen Griffin and uncles Daniel Marks and Chris Murray; and her much loved dog Ruby.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”--A.A. Milne

A very special thank you to the VON nurses as well as the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice who took such good care of Karli in her final days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St Joseph’s Hospice https://sjhospicelondon.com/make-a-difference/giving/in-memoriam-in-honour-giving/ in Karli's memory.

A celebration of Karli’s life will be scheduled at a later date. Please visit Karli's obituary notice on Facebook.

Karli came into my life in an unexpected way and left a profound mark that changed me for the better. Her spirit and will will live on in the lives she touched, and all who had the honour of meeting her are better for it. To her family and friends, hold those memories close, her spirit is forever near.

Karli was my childhood bestie and I feel so lucky to have had her in my life, and so grateful for all the amazing memories I hold in my heart of the many years we spent together.

As an adult, I now watch my daughter grow, and have often watched her with her friends hoping that she would find herself a little Karli Marks so that she could experience the feelings of invincibility and the unstoppable confidence that comes with being inseparably connected to such a beautiful soul.

I’ve come to realize just how rare a friendship like ours was, and appreciate and it’s beauty even more now than I did when we were kids.

I’m glad we were able to reconnect so many years later and despite the geographical distance between us and the years that had passed, the bond was never broken.

I got to watch Karli and Jordan grow together over social media, and I was so often humbled by what an incredible relationship they had and what an amazing mother Karli was.

She is and always has been an inspiration and an unwavering source of strength and motivation in my life, and I’m confident she touched the lives of many others in the same way.

Karli, if you’re out there somewhere and you can see this, thank you. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for you. You are truly an angel. Loved and missed by many.

To Jordan - You are an incredible young man. Your mothers’ whole world, no question. She was very lucky to have you, and you her. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I hope you always know that your Mom is with you, now and forever. My wish for you is that, everywhere you go, every challenge you face in life, every failure and every victory, you remember she’s there, in your corner, cheering you on. Your mother may have passed on for now, but a mother’s love never dies. Never give up on your dreams. 💞

To Janet - Love you Mom ❤️❤️❤️

Words seem so inadequate when we lose someone so dear to so many people. Just know we are thinking of you all with sorrow in our hearts.

Karli and I became friends through a IBS support group and taught me to always always always advocate for myself when doctors don’t listen to me! I loved chatting with her on messenger and will miss our chats! Karli you will be missed I’m praying for your family!!! Love you, your IBS sister!

My deepest condolences to Karli and Jay’s parents, I could not imagine losing both children within five years of each other. Last time I saw Karli, Jordan was a just a wee tot. Life took me away from London, Ontario and when I came back COVID stopped me from seeing her and I regret not being able to say goodbye. To Jordan: your mom will always be with you ❤️ Will a piece of Karli be buried somewhere so the people who didn’t get a chance to say goodbye at her wake can do so?
