As a result of a stroke and subsequent complications, Norma Louise Holland (Boyd) slipped peacefully away with her Daughter, Ariel (Al Beaudoin) holding her hand, as well as her son, Kirby (Sally Inns), quietly speaking words of love and reassurance via virtual message, on Feb 22,2021 in her 84th year.

She will be warmly met in heaven by her parents Nicholas and Lillian Boyd, as well as her brother Gordon. She also will be reunited with first husband Trevor S. Holland (1990), second husband, Frank MacDonald (2008), and step-son Dan MacDonald (2015).

Norma not only was a cherished and loving mom, but also a proud Grammy to Amy (Keaton) & Alyssa (Nathan) Beaudoin, as well as Samantha and Jessica Holland. She was also a special “Noma” to Shawn and Tegan MacDonald. She leaves behind sister Jean (Al) Rogowski of Deep River, Ontario,  sister-in-law, Carol (Al)Moody, in Calgary, Niece Colleen, Nephew Derrick and her loving cousins in Winnipeg. She will be sorely missed by all her friends from the Kiwanis Senior centre who provided her with days and years filled with day trips, luncheons, games, music, laughter and smiles. She also will be missed by so many  dear friends and neighbours, many who were just like family,  from Winnipeg and in London,  who often called to visit,  would wave when she was out, give encouraging words or lend a helping hand for so many years - you all know who you are !

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held when Covid so permits. In Lieu of flowers,  those wishing to honour Norma are asked to consider a donation in her memory to one of the following organizations:
Lambton Centre, a Christian Outreach Ministry dedicated to enriching lives through summer camp programming   @ https://lambtoncentre.com/get-involved/
or The London Humane Society   https://www.hslm.ca/tribute-memorial-donation/

Helmut Herbert Stucke, in his 83rd year and resident of Richmond Woods retirement home passed away on Tuesday December 15th at University Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, (Janet) Muriel Stucke, his son David (Susan), his daughter Krista (Barry Gooder) and his four beloved grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, Molly and Charlie. Helmut was born on March 2, 1938 in Hanover, Germany.

He and his parents and three brothers, Heinz, Bernd and Gerd immigrated to Canada when he was a boy of fourteen. London has been his home ever since. His greatest joys were spending time with friends and family. Dancing at the German and Scottish clubs was a favourite activity for Helmut and Muriel.  After retiring from General Motors, Helmut enjoyed travelling with Muriel on regular trips to Victoria B.C, Scotland and Germany.

Helmut spent many mornings meeting up with friends at the Boys and Girls Club for early swims and exchanging stories with his coffee friends at the local Tim Horton’s. He was most at home in his kitchen and outside at his barbeque. Helmut welcomed his closest friends and family into his home at any time. He especially enjoyed preparing and serving dinners for his loved ones where delicious food was plentiful and laughter and stories abounded.

He will be remembered for his involvement in his grandchildren’s lives: teaching Megan and Kyle how to swim in his neighbour’s backyard pool, travelling to Bradford to watch Kyle swim and to spend time with them, cheering Molly as she played soccer at the BMO Centre, and freezing in the cold at Argyle Arena to root Charlie on in hockey. Helmut did not miss a Christmas concert, school play or graduation. His grandchildren will always cherish his interest, love and involvement in their lives.

Special thanks to the staff at Richmond Woods for their support and friendship for Helmut during his time as a resident and to the nursing staff and doctors at University Hospital for their care and kindness to Helmut over the weeks when he was their patient.

Helmut wished to be cremated, followed by a small immediate family member gathering to honour his life.  In lieu of flowers, Helmut would have appreciated a donation made to the Boys and Girls Club on Horton Street in London.  Messages and condolences may be left at www.forestcitycremation.com

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marilyn Semple (Hoath) on December 12th, 2020 in London, Ontario in her 75th year, as the result of a massive stroke.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Wayne, her children Gregory and Deborah (Sean), her loving brothers David (Lynn) and Donald (Carmen), and her two precious grandsons, Nathaniel and Ethan. Marilyn is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Perry and Doris Hoath. Marilyn was born on July 1st, 1946 in Owen Sound, Ontario. She was always very proud of sharing her birthday with Canada.

Marilyn spent her life helping others, as exemplified in her career as a Registered Nurse. After working at the Toronto East General Hospital, Marilyn moved to the Guelph General Hospital where she stayed for many years before moving to London and finishing out her nursing career as a Nursing Manager for the London Regional Cancer Centre.  Upon retirement, Marilyn’s love of helping others did not stop. In her last year on earth, Marilyn knitted countless hats, scarves, and mittens for those less fortunate, as well as sewed scrub hats for the medical community.

Marilyn was a steadfast member of the Colborne Street United Church since her move to London in 1989 and her presence there will be dearly missed. Marilyn involved herself as a choir soprano,  a dutiful book table organizer at the semi-annual rummage sales, a knitter in the prayer shawl group, and a friend to all at the Wednesday’s Take-A-Break group, just to name a few.

Marilyn will live on in the beautiful artwork that she created both through her paintings and drawings, the many items she sewed for her children and grandchildren, her knitted goods, her beautiful crafts, and her gardens that she so lovingly developed. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, a celebration of life is being considered for the spring of 2021 when the world might be a safer place to gather. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of their choice.

In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place.   Arrangements entrusted to Forest City Cremation Services and online condolences can be made at https://www.forestcitycremation.com/obituaries/marilyn-june-semple-nee-hoath
